2023 Grievance Instructions

GRIEVANCE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED PRIOR TO JUNE 1, 2023

Grievance applications will be accepted in person at the Assessment Department Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm beginning June 1, 2023. Town Hall will be closed Monday, June 19, 2023. Grievance applications can also be placed in the secure drop box in front of Town Hall (363 Underhill Avenue, Yorktown Heights), emailed or sent via USPS, Fedex or UPS.

To EMAIL your application:

Email a PDF of a completed signed grievance application (RP-524) to: grievances@yorktownny.org

Make sure your email and a contact number are included on the grievance application and it is signed.

The labeling of the PDF and subject line of the email MUST include the street address of the property and indicate RES GRIEV for residential properties or COMM GRIEV for commercial properties.

If you are submitting grievance applications for multiple parcels, a separate PDF file must be used for each parcel.

A return receipt (on the options tab of the email) is mandatory to ensure the Assessment Department is in receipt of your petition. You will NOT receive any other receipt.

The body of the email must include ONLY:   Contact name and phone number.

Do not write anything else in the body of the email – it will not be seen by the Board of Assessment Review (BAR).

It MUST be received no later than June 20, 2023.

Please paper clip all pages (no staples). Single-sided documents are preferred.

BOARD OF ASSESSMENT REVIEW (BAR) INSTRUCTIONS:

The Board of Assessment Review will meet on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Assessment Office.

It is NOT mandatory to testify before the BAR on June 20, 2023. Appearances are on a first come first serve basis. The BAR reviews all documentation provided, whether you appear or not, to make a determination as to the final assessment.

ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE ASSESSMENT OFFICE ON OR BEFORE JUNE 20, 2023, AT 8:00 PM.  Applications received after that date and time will not be reviewed by the BAR.
