Yorktown school-supplies drive offers free ice cream

August 16, 2023 – A back-to-school drive at the Jefferson Valley Mall on Friday promises free ice cream to donors.

Anyone who brings school supplies valued at $5 or more for the “Stuff the Bus” drive will receive a voucher for a free Mr. Softee cone or a Nathan’s hot dog followed by a free screening of the Super Mario Bros. Movie in the mall parking lot at sundown.

“Our community has a generous spirit, and this event is a fun way to teach children about the importance of sharing with those who are less fortunate,” said Supervisor Tom Diana.

The donation drive will occur in the parking lot outside of Flame Asian Bistro from 7 p.m. until 8:15 p.m. Vouchers will be distributed while supplies last. All donated school supplies will be given to Saint Mary’s Pantry in Mohegan Lake.

The event is sponsored by the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, the Jefferson Valley Mall, Valley Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics and UMAC Nation.
