Deputy Supervisor Diana to Lead Town Board Meetings in December

(December 5, 2022) – Councilman and deputy Supervisor Tom Diana will lead Town Board meetings in December in preparation for a transfer of administrations.

Deputy Supervisor Diana will succeed Supervisor Matt Slater in January, when Supervisor Slater will begin representing the 94th District in the New York State Assembly. The Town Board is scheduled to meet three times on Dec. 6, 13 and 20. During that time Supervisor Slater will attend the meetings while deputy Supervisor Diana leads them.

“Yorktown residents deserve a smooth transition of power, so that in January deputy Supervisor Diana can hit the ground running. During this transitional month of December, I will support the deputy supervisor in every way to ensure his and Yorktown’s success,” said Supervisor Slater, who served as Yorktown’s leader since January 2020.

A third-generation Yorktown resident, deputy Supervisor Diana joined the Town Board in 2015 and he is currently the longest serving Town Board member. He is a former police officer and a local small business owner. Deputy Supervisor Diana has previously led Town Board meetings when Supervisor Slater was absent.

“In recent years, the Town Board has worked together to deliver positive changes to Yorktown. I’m looking forward to leading the December meetings as we finalize one of the Town Board’s most important jobs—adopting a Town budget for next year,” said deputy Supervisor Diana.
