Yorktown’s Memorial Day Parade is Monday

May 24, 2024 – Yorktown officials and veterans’ groups will observe Memorial Day on Monday with a parade and park dedication.

“Memorial Day is an observance that allows Americans to reflect on the tremendous sacrifices made by members of our Armed Forces to preserve our way of life and freedoms. Since the Revolutionary War, more than 1.3 million U.S. soldiers have died in wars and conflicts through combat or other causes, and we are grateful to all these service members,” said Supervisor Ed Lachterman.

The line-up for the parade will begin at Yorktown Town Hall at 10:40 a.m. on Monday. The parade begins at 11 a.m. with a short service at the Town Hall Patriot Garden, and then participants will march from Town Hall to the Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Field & Track. At 11:15 a.m. speakers will address attendees at Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Field & Track on Veterans Road.

The event is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, and the Town of Yorktown.
